It stands out for its unique architecture and the neoclassic houses near the sea and the hill. The two sides of the port are connected with a stone bridge, the “kalntirimi”, next to which the Customs Office and the fish-market stand out. From the bridge towards the interior of the settlement the square of Kampos is located, with the war memorial and the bust of the history professor M. Volonakis, where events are organized during the festival of Symi.

Strata with the 500 stone wide stairs among which there are stair landings, once was the only way for someone to go from Gialos to Horio.
Going up from Kali Strata the visitors distinguish the first houses of Horio, built on the hill of Noulia and the attention is captured by the stone mills, remnants of the bloom in the island. Near the mills there is Pontikokastro, an ancient round building that was probably a prehistoric tomb offering a great view over Gialos.
