The area around the village of Arni (or Arnas) is very fertile and the village once prospered. It is located in one of the highest points on the island. Its population had reached 1000 residents and it used to be the centre of the area. It was the only big village with two squares (one has been destroyed since then) and two churches. Nowadays, it has very few permanent residents. The verdant area of Remata (or Revmata) is located near Arni. You can go there on foot and visit the restored old olive oil mill of Lembesis.
