Folegandros Palaiokastro

It lies on a slope above the yard of the great temple of Panagia, where the island acropolis used to be and the view from up there is magnificent. You may get there by taking a narrow street and a path that is hardly visible at some points. In 1840 the area was superficially explored by the German archaeological Ludwig Ross who found the remains of an ancient wall and a medieval tower. If you look carefully, you will see fragments of marble integrated in dry stones, broken pieces of vessels and traces of ancient foundations.
