The most important and best preserved archaeological site of Irakleia is located at a strategic point above the Livadi beach alongside the asphalt road connecting Agios Georgios with Panagia.
The “Kastro”, as the locals call it, was a citadel of the Hellenistic period. Some ruins of strong bastions, walls and stone lintels from houses, courtyards, threshing floors as well as the ruins of two temples dedicated to Zeus and the Goddess Tyche (Goddess of Fortune and Luck) still stand today.
