The beaches of Afiartis cover a distance of more than 5km and have many names. Surfers favor its enormous beaches that have hosted European games and are therefore known the world over. The first one is Vatha or Devil’s Bay, as surfers like to call it, the second one is Limni or Nikolaki Pounta-Valias, as the older islanders call it, or Gun Bay, as surfers like to call it, and the last one is Makris Yalos or Chicken Bay, as tourists call it. The names of the beaches also indicate their particularities regarding surfing.
