Paros The wetlands and the marine biotopes

Many areas in Paros are wetlands with a particular importance for the island’s flora and fauna. The bird fauna of Paros is very important as it consists of more than three hundred species. Many species of migratory and endemic birds find shelter in the wetlands, among which there are some rare species such as the dunnock (prunella modularis) and the Audouin’s gull (larus audouinii). The island has also a big variety of marine biotopes which host many marine organisms. The most important mammal is the Mediterranean monk seal (Μonachus Μonachus).
