It is located a few kilometres away from cosmopolitan Oia, offering beautiful views of Baxedes and resembling a painting since houses and old wineries have been painted with multiple colours. Local people as well as foreigners (basically artists and intellectuals) have purchased properties in Finikia over the past few years and have managed to restore them. In the past, it was the home to viniculturists, farmers and ploughmen. Finikia was full of old wineries and it is estimated that during the times of prosperity, wineries might have reached the number of 150-200! The church of St. Matrona stands out. It was built in 1859 and it celebrates on 20th October when a great religious festival usually takes place.
