In the summer on the beaches of Sifnos you will see many sailing boats and inflatables. The rocks of Poulati, Chrysopigi, Eptamartyros in Kastro and the islet of Kitriani, southeast of Serifos, are ideal for dips and fishing.
-The main port of Sifnos where the ships of the line and the speedboats moor is Kamares (VHF: Channel 12). There are places inside the pier, or you will moor off shore. Depth: 2-5m. Good grip of the anchor.
–Vathy, on the southwestern side of the island, is the safest port of Sifnos (it suffers only from the southwestern winds). You can moor on the pier or offshore. The seabed is sandy and offers a good grip.
–Cherronisos, on the northwestern side, is a narrow bay and it offers protection from “meltemia” (north winds). The space is limited.
-Other anchorages: Faros on southeast which was the official port of Sifnos until 1833, Fasolou which mainly suffers from northern and northeastern weather conditions, and the small bay of Kastro. You will moor offshore in Platis Gialos, which suffers from the south and the southeastern winds, as well as the northern-northeastern ones. There is a fishing shelter (tel. +30 2284071365). Chrysopigi offers protection from meltemia as well.
