The library is a true repository of knowledge. It is housed in a neoclassical building donated by the Kambanis family. Among other things, it contains 60,000 volumes of printed matter, 3,000 of which belonged to the private collection and works of Theofilos Kairis, and an extensive archive of rare documents. Exhibitions are held at an annex of the library, while a modern bookbinding and preservation workshop is also in operation. Theofilos Kairis, a well-educated theologian and philosopher, was a significant figure and an ambassador of the Modern Greek Enlightenment (1784-1853). Tel.: +30 22820 22262
