It is said that the village of Embirikos and Kairis families owes its current name to the explorer Tournefort, who had called the settlement the Myra of Andros. It is a quiet village, full of houses and villas hidden amidst the lush vegetation. Its main narrow street, named after the teachers Ioannis and Eirini Gialouri, passes by a marble wall fountain with a lion’s head and ends at the Girls’ School. From that point, you can take a beautiful trail and ascend towards Ypsila and Menites.
