It is definitely worth visiting the Sea World museum of Mr. Valsamidis in Vlihadia. It constitutes a remarkable private collection. More specifically, there are three exhibition halls in a large space resembling a whitewashed Aegean yard. In the first hall you can see all kinds of sponges and if you are lucky, you may see a demonstration of their processing. There are also shells and corals having different shapes and colors that are classified according to their names. Furthermore, there is a whole wreck of an ancient merchant ship containing amphorae and other objects, which were found by Kos Valsamidis. Findings emanating from the mysterious sunken city of Telendos own a special place in the museum. In the next hall, you can find embalmed sharks, a huge sea turtle, manta rays, swordfish, different kinds of rays, as well as rare species of starfish.
