Even though the coastline of Kos is quite big in length, it is easy to sail around the island thanks to the ports (big and small) that are available all around it. You can also plan small getaways to the neighboring islands. The central port of Kos (tel. +30 22420 26594-6, VHF Channel 12) protects boats against any type of weather. The neighboring marina offers the same kind of protection along with some additional services (tel. +30 22420 20867).
The jetty of Mastihari protects boats against northern and southeastern winds but you have to tie your boat to the pier since the seabed won’t hold the anchor in place.
The port of Kardamena is ideal for keeping your boat protected, but you’ll find it hard to find a spot there in the summer.
The picturesque small port of Limnionas in the northwest is also an ideal port as it protects boats against all kinds of winds.
The port of Kamari at the southwestern part of the island offers protection against the etesians.
