Milos Plaka

Milos - Plaka Milos - Plaka Milos - Plaka

The most beautiful settlement of Milos is built on the highest point of the hill that rises above the bay of Adamantas. It was created after the abandonment of Zefyria, i.e. old Chora, which is still called that way by the locals (that is why they do not call Plaka, Chora). If you want to go to the Venetian castle, be prepared for a long ascent, but it is worthwile as you will enjoy a unique spectacle. You can go upwards the beautiful alley admiring the old houses, up to the historical church of Thalassitra and then reach the top by following the path among the remains of the walls. Mesa Panagia (or Panagia Sikiniotissa) dominates at the highest point, with a wonderful forecourt and a view that cannot be easily described, especially under the sunset!

On the central road and the epicentre of the settlement with the narrow white-washed alleys, there are bars, tavers and cafés. The church of Korfiatissa, at Marmara is wonderful. The view from its forecourt is amazing and at nights you can sit here and watch the lighted ships passing by.
