Koyfonisia Epano Myloi at Pano Koufonissi

At the western side of the island, in the area of Epano Myloi, excavations have brought into light various items that date to the first phase of the Cycladic Civilisation (3,000 B.C.). In particular, at the location of Agrilia a couple of special chamber-like graves were discovered with the most important finding at Epano Myloi being a pan-shaped pot on top of which a nine-ray star was carved. Today it is hosted at the archaeological museum of Naxos.

A different excavation that was conducted at the southern end of the east coasts brought into light various utensils that dated back to the Hellenistic and Roman years.
