It was founded in 1794 and has many Arabic, Persian and Ottoman manuscripts on display. Among these are a masterly illustrated Koran from 1540 and a chronicle of the conquest of Rhodes by the Turks in 1522, written by Sultan Suleiman’s physician. What is most impressive is the library’s courtyard, paved with chochlakia (pebble mosaic). Info It is located on Sokratous Street, opposite the Süleymaniye Mosque. Free pass.
