Kardamena is a coastal settlement 29km southwest of the capital of the island. The beach of the settlement is famous for its white sand and is filled with grand hotels, beach bars, tavernas and nightclubs; all proof that this particular resort never sleeps. You should pay a visit to the restored building housing the rural medical center and to the churches of Panagia, Agioi Anargyroi and Agia Barbara at the village. There is a local boat service from the small picturesque port of the village to the neighboring island of Nisyros. The archaeological site of Alasarna is very close to Kardamena.
